Reproducibility as a value
A result you can't make again isn't a result. You hold your own work to that standard.
Range across the loop
You can reason from a desired property to a structure to a measurement, even if your depth is in one of them.
Long-game temperament
Deep-tech takes a decade. You want to build something that keeps adding up, with people who'll still be here for it.

Materials / Chemistry / Physics
Own a thrust from end to end, from the hypothesis and the structure to the fabrication and the measurement that proves it. You have made hard materials work before, and you care that a result can be made twice.

Build the tooling that starts from a target property and proposes the nanostructure that delivers it. You are comfortable where physics, optimization, and software meet.
